Crew 299 was formed in October of 2009 by a group of adult leaders who had been involved in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the past.

The crew was formed to provide an opportunity for youth to have an outdoor experience that many were not finding via other avenues. The original crew membership consisted for former girl scouts who were looking for an opportunity to do more things outdoors, sisters of former and current boy scouts and boy scouts looking for additional outdoor adventure.

Crew 299 is always looking for additional outdoor loving youth between the ages of 14 and 21.
